
About Debra
Delegate Debra M. Davis, Esq., is a lifetime Marylander with deep roots in Charles and Prince George’s Counties. As a lifelong resident of Southern Maryland, Davis' family in Charles County dates backs four generations to the late 1800's.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology from the University of Maryland in College Park and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore’s School of Law.

Davis has practiced law for over 30 years. She is a civil litigator who practices in her own law firm. Delegate Davis was elected to the Charles County Board of Commissioners in 2010 and served eight years.
She was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates for District 28 in Charles County in 2018. She served on the House Judiciary Committee, the Public Safety and Juvenile Subcommittees for four years. She currently serves on the House Environment and Transportation Committee.
Davis has amassed a vast knowledge and passion for issues related to criminal justice reform. Her studies in criminology and law afford her a unique position in the area of criminal justice and equity. Notably, Davis served on her very first police accountability board over thirty years ago.
She chairs the Public Safety and Criminal Justice Reform subcommittee of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland. Under her leadership that committee of “legislator lawyers” shepherded sweeping police reform and first of its kind Criminal justice equity in Cannabis legalization through the Maryland legislature.
Davis is a proud parent of two daughters Kendra Davis and Maya Davis Dixon.
